Trendy Tuesdays: Fall 2014: Update on Denim!

Remember when low rise skinnies were the thing? Well… not so much anymore. This season is all about high waisted, embroidered, and even oversized – yes, baggy jeans are in.

This is an example of embroidered pants that I would actually buy myself. The ones on the left are from Dsquared and cost $617- i know, its crazy money, but the ones on the right from AMEN are $1,545!!! Lol, the thing is, embroidery this detailed and spread across so much of the jean will be more expensive because it takes A LOT more time to do that just sew denim together.

Trucker jackets are another denim item thats currently in style. The one to the left costs $745 from R13, however the one on the left is from Topshop and costs $96.

As we all know, highwaisted jeans are suuuuuper IN! And I love this – it eliminates the promotion of LOVE HANDLES! On the left you’ll see Saint Laurent for $595, and on the right you’ll see the more affordable option from H&M for $39.95 – big difference!

For the fall, we know trench coats is perfect. Now, include some denim and you’re walking in fashion. The first one you see here is $2,302 from Derek Lam, but I just saved your wallet with the Timeout option on the right for $77. You’re welcome 😀

The flare is back!! Last time this was in I think I was in elementary school lol (I’m 22 now!) The J Brand jeans on the left are $224, but the UrbanOutfitters on the right are $119.

Jean skirts are so elementary? For me they were.. but like the flare, the skirts are also coming out in todays fashion. To the left – Michael Kors for $650. On the right – Gap for $49.95.

“Vintage and reworked” as Style puts it, “Relaxed and distressed” is how I put it. Although Levi’s is one of my favorite denim brands, Forever21’s option for $27.80 beats Levis price for $290.

Overalls, I’m sure you ladies seen a lot of these at the mall when you’re shopping. Well, Paige (on the left) has theirs $289 (and thats Polyvore being nice), but I found some at Charlotte Russe for $39.99 (on the left)

For men, the trucker jean jackets are in too. Obviously we wont care much for a man in high waisted jeans lol but a little flare is good for you guys too. Stay away from embroidery, because it may look a bit feminine, unless you have a good sense of judgement then embroidery will give you brownie points!

I love denim to be honest. Even though it does bring heat and is pretty heavy, its such a universal piece that can be paired with millions of other things. A pair of good jeans is essential, which is why jeans are the only thing (aside from shoes) that I would spend a fortune on. Everything else, like blouses and hats or scarves and accessories I’m more weary about. Those I throw out quickly if anything goes wrong without a problem because I have plenty more. However, jeans are so important lol I rather spend a pretty penny on a good, reliable pair that I know will withstand anything the washer and dryer throw at them. That my opinion.

Let me know what you think of denim? And what your favorite piece would be? Maybe send me a picture? 😉
